The trailer of Shaan Shahid’s much anticipated film ‘Arth 2’ aka Arth-The Destination was released today. This film’s the remake of renowned producer Mahesh Bhatt’s 1982 Arth which had Shabana Azmi, Samita Patel, Kulbhushan Kharbanda Dina Phattak, Raj Kiran and Gulshan Grover in the main lead. Shahid had taken consent of the Indian producer for the remake which he had approved. Shaan Shahid had said that it was his way to diminish the distance between the people of two countries as it’s supposed to bring the arch rivals closer through the medium of film industry.
Shaan’s take on the original Arth has Mohib Mirza as Umar, a filmmaker who’s married Uzma Hassan’s character played as Uzma who’s a writer by profession and Shaan himself portrays as Ali, a singer who’s looking forward to make his professional comeback, and makes his way back from the UK to Pakistan. On the other hand we’ve got Humaima Malick, who’s a superstar and a full on diva by nature. Humaima Maalick is also the ‘other’ woman in Umar’s life. Whereas the trailer tells us that Uzma, who’s Umar’s wife is also a die hard fan of Ali.
The trailer is a complex roller coaster of pain, emotion, love and passion. If we look at this Arth from the perspective of a person who’s seen the original Arth then Shaan Shahid would be putting his feet in Kiran Raj’s shoes; Humaima would be seen in Samita’s role of Kavita; Mohib-Bachaana’s actor would be playing the role of Inder Malhotra which was played by Kulbhushan in the original and Uzma Hassan-The Sajida of famous TV serial ‘Uloo Baraye Farokht Nahi’ would be finding herself in the place of Pooja, which was earlier depicted by Shabana Azmi.
Arth’s revamp would definitely be a test case for Shaan’s cinematic approach and the big question’s that would Shaan be able to carry the untouched legacy of Mahesh Bhatt, because Bhatt himself gets his name mentioned in the list of people who love to unleash the taboos and the stereotypes. He has shown sheer interest and absolute trust in Shaan by providing utter control and freedom to illustrate Bhatt’s cult classic in his own manner. Let’s see how it goes for Shaan with his latest experiment.
The film is set to hit the screens on 21st of December 2017. Check out the trailer below to have the crispy sneak peak of the movie.
