Aamir Khan’s Production House Opts Out of Mogul

As the #MeToo campaign grows day by day there are many developments taking place in the entertainment sector. The latest casualty has been Bollywood director Subhash Kapoor who was laden by the rape charges. Following the allegations, Mr.Perfectionist Aamir Khan has opted out of the upcoming biopic ‘Mogul’ under Subhash’s name.

A statement was rolled out by the husband-wife duo saying that the rape charges were brought into their knowledge two weeks ago. Kapoor was accused of attempting to rape actress  Geetika Tyagi  back in 2012. Actress Geetika Tyagi had filed a case against Kapoor in 2014 and following that she also released a video in which she was seen slapping the Mogul director in the presence of his spouse.

The statement that came out from Aamir Khan Productions had said:

“Upon enquiry we found that this particular case is subjudice, and that the legal process is in motion. We are not an investigative agency, nor are we in any position to pass judgement on anyone – that is for the police and judiciary to do. So, without casting any aspersions on anyone involved in this case, and without coming to any conclusions about these specific allegations, we have decided to step away from this film.”

In reply to the statement made by Khan and Rao, the accused Kapoor said:

“I understand and respect Aamir Khan’s and Kiran Rao’s decision. Since matter is subjudice, I intend to prove my innocence in the court of law.”

Following the statement Kapoor also asked a question:

“…is secretly filming a crying woman without her consent and knowledge and uploading it on social media not harassment or abuse? Or is it fine if she is related to someone who is “accused” of a misconduct. If your answer is latter then for me it’s nothing less than a khaap panchayat mentality.”

Music production giant T-Series was funding Subhash Kapoor’s Mogul in collaboration with Aamir Khan Productions but the music company founded by Gulshan Kumar has also gotten their hands off the project stating: ” everyone at T-Series has decided to not work with the director”.

We would keep you posted as the story unfolds and further developments are made.
