After the huge success of Bollywood’s latest biopic Sanju – a film on Sanjay Dutt’s life, Bollywood is set on making another biopic. Gul Makai is a biopic in working that will depict the life of the Pakistani Nobel Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai. The poster of the upcoming movie was revealed yesterday and needless to say that it has literally been breaking the internet!
The unveiled poster is quite interesting as it one shows a picture of the lead actress holding a book in her hand that is caught in flames, along with the visuals of explosion as well. The visuals has been said to depict the hardships faced by Malala Yousufzai in her life.
The poster’s tagline is no less of a curious factor either: “One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world”.
The most interesting part is that the title of the biopic, Gul Makai, is actually Malala’s pen name that she used to write in her diary.
The biopic itself is directed by Amjad Khan and stars Reem Sameer Shaikh along with Divya Dutta as lead characters. Moreover, Gul Makai has been shot the Ganderbal district of Indian Occupied Kashmir, making it more relatable to the audience.
“The film aims to capture Malala’s spirit, her fight, and also the reality and suffering of the people of Pakistan. It chronicles the journey of Malala from her days in Swat Valley to her becoming the youngest Noble peace prize winner. Major part of the film has been shot in Bhuj and Mumbai and the last leg in Kashmir,” Amjad Khan said in an interview.
Moreover, it looks like Reem Sheikh, an Indian awards-winning child actress will be playing as Malala. How cool is that?
Director Amjad Khan confessed that when he was searching for a girl who could play the character of Malala Yousufzai in Gul Makai, Reem caught his eye with her innocent face and incredible acting skills. He explained that he hasn’t looked back after signing her as she looks a lot like Malala. Regardless, Reem has made a lot of efforts for this role. She has gone through vigorous training process to correct her diction, her mannerisms and body language to be like the real Malala.
Are you excited? Because we can’t wait to see this biopic. Will it showcase the hardships faced by Malala or reveal the progress she made to be who she is now? Stay tuned to find out more!
