In the early days where iphones and Skype didn’t even exist, telegraphic communication and letters were the main form of communication for long-distant people. Now there are rare people who still write letters and it’s amazing how the play is working to revive the lost joy of hand-written letters that modern technology can never give us. The story states the life of a wife and husband who are both journalists, one of them from Karachi (Pakistan) and the other Bihar (India). They are seen and heard writing letters to their relatives from all over the world, set in different cities, and these letters generate a wide range of emotions.
” Mian Biwi aur Wagah ” will present different journeys with ordinary exchanges, vivid images and impeccable conversations that will invite the audience to a heartwarming story filled with letter-writing. The production hopes to send a message to the young and current generation about the importance of reviving an art of soul-stirring conversations with paper and pen.
All letters staged are originally written and based on true stories and experiences that remain rooted in partition-seeped narratives. Beyond the obvious, the letters document stereotypes and idiosyncrasies of our times. The play will be performed in the Art Council Karachi on 31st of March and 1st of April 2018.
The entry ticket for ” Mian Biwi aur Wagah ” will cost as little as Rs. 1500 which is honestly a small compensation to view the experience of a life time. So, what are you waiting for? Book it now!
