The Indian actress Priyanka Chopra has been the apple of the eye for years now, appearing in many Bollywood hits and had recently joined the hit TV series, Quantico which took fans by surprise. However, much to their dismay, ABC has decided to cancel Priyanka Chopra’s American TV show with just 3 seasons and the 3rd that is to be aired.
After Priyanka Chopra signed the lead role of the FBI agent Alex Parrish, the show had gained not only American fans but also fans from India and Pakistan. Despite the popularity, the 3rd season opened with only 13 episodes, unlike its predecessor.
A report from The Hollywood Reporter stated that the first episode of the third season opened to less than 3 million views and poor ratings of 0.5. Still, it will continue to air till the 13th episode.
In a recent interview with Variety, Priyanka Chopra explained why she took Quantico.
“My only thing then was that I wanted to play a part that was ethnically ambiguous because what happens with a lot of South Asian actors is you get stereotyped into just what studio executives think that Indians should be. So I told them I wanted to play a part where I, as an actor, could deliver my job and it had nothing to do with my color or my ethnicity,” she said.
Priyanka Chopra had also stated that Quantico was a huge win in her opinion. “That’s how they found me for ‘Quantico,’ which was a huge win for me being a South Asian actor because I grew up at a time in America where the only South Asian representation that I saw on television was Apu on ‘The Simpsons’ — and he was annoying as hell. It just made you feel really small.” she further explained.
