Pakistan has been a sports loving nation. We have served as hosts to many international events in past and have cliched numerous titles worldwide. But since the deadliest terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan cricket team, the international sports activities came to a halt. That resulted many problems for Pakistan and since then we haven’t been able to revive the international tournaments in the country.
Several endeavors have been made by the private sector and by the authorities as well to revive the sports activities. The latest was the tour by the West Indies national cricket team, Karachi served as the host to the T20 series. Before the arrival of West Indian team, Lahore and Karachi had served as the spectator to the Pakistan Super League final contests.
Back in 2017, Renowned Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho and Welsh star Ryan Gigs with 6 other international football players visited Pakistan in hope to promote football in Pakistan. This tour was possible because of the endeavors made by Pakistan Army and Leisure League. The event received a positive response from all the football enthusiasts in Pakistan.
In 2017 “ROP Season 2K17” and professional wrestlers had arrived in Pakistan to promote and coordinate for “Season 2018” international wrestling event that was hosted by the country. The wrestlers include Raymond Thomas Latimer and Andrew Harrison from the United Kingdom, Nicole Tanea Brooks of the United States and Haris Fiaz of France. Now in 2018 “ROP Season 2K18” is all set for the month of December.
Baby steps are a ray of hope in the journey to bring the international contests home and Government is eager to take sports in Pakistan to new heights .Pakistani Government plans to spend a fortune conducting tribal and district tournaments so it’s clear every effort is being made.
