Bollywood has been recently having a rough and tough when it comes to religious groups. John Abraham was targeted for playing a shia character and showcasing the Shia community. Now, Rishi Kapoor has been the target of trolls ever since his role in the new film Mulk became news. The veteran actor is getting the heat from several Indian Hindu groups for portraying a Muslim character.
Although Rishi Kapoor has not been vocal about this issue, the director of Mulk, Anubhav Sinha has come forward on his Twitter account with an open letter to address the growing unnecessary hate and controversy that his film is being funded by infamous terrorist Dawood Ibrahim. Which is downright ridiculous!
The open letter has been clearly addressed to the ‘trolls’. It states that the film was not funded by Dawood Ibrahim nor any other fundamentalist group. Additionally, the director states that the value of the film is not only targeted at Muslims or Hindus, rather it expresses ‘you, me, and us’, as a nation.

Moreover, it seems like Sinha wasn’t the only one who slammed the haters with logic. Mulk actress Taapsee Panuu also voiced out her opinion on this matter. In an interview the actress expressed how she’s disturbed by the ill treatment of Muslims in India.
The actress further states, “If I were to feel disturbed in their presence then I would be disturbed whole day and night because my life is run by them. It’s very disturbing to realise that a particular religion is being targeted. These people are inseparable to me. So this was a big reason for me to do the film. I thought if someone has to stand up then I would like to take that responsibility. This fear and this disturbance in my mind, I vented it all out through this film,” she concluded.
Actor Rishi Kapoor and Taapsee will be seen playing Muslims characters in the film, who fight their honor after being separated by the prejudice tropes that lie within India.
