Veerey Ki Wedding Movie Review: A Signature Bollywood Drama
Since it was almost Holi season, Director Ashu Trikha thought it’d be a great way to showcase his latest work: Veerey Ki Wedding which shows some dhamakay-daar and comedy revolving scenes but in a very repetitive and rag-tag plot. It’s a story full of “comedy”, a tint of Bollywood action and loud speakers that can pull in any Bollywood movie loving fanatic into watching it. Here’s the trailer:
The film is basically about a guy named Veer (played by Pulkit Samrat) who is a hero with a brave and caring heart for others. Usually you’d expect a Bollywood hero going out on the streets trying to impress girls but Veer is a twist that director Trikha thought would impress the audience. The hero actually has a dignified self-commitment to act as a vigilante for the people of his city and beats up any bad guys who treat women or elderly in a bad way.
Turns out, the vigilante hero has a girlfriend called Geet (played by Kriti Kharbanda) who has mutual love him but doesn’t want to wait for her wedding. Meanwhile, her father Mr Bhalla ( played by Satish Kaushik) doesn’t like violence and thinks of Veer as some sort of a gunda so their marriage is called-off. So basically, the whole movie is devoted into how they make it work out.
Veer also has a 35-year-old cousin who has incredibly bad luck with women but helps Veer with his girl problem by threatening Geet’s father with bad consequences if he gets in the way of their wedding. Honestly, the character has a lot of potential but gets wasted with the poor plot.
So, to fix the dying plot, director Trikha tries to add as many lame jokes and loud noises as possible to keep the audience engaged. But the real question still stands, do they really get married after the whole drama of 2 hours and 20 minutes or will the marriage just remain a part of Veer’s dream?
If you’re a fan of cliche Bollywood scenes and loud music, your money and time will definitely be worth the film.
